We've recently managed to lower the price of this kit by $180.

We weren't happy with how Konis worked with our springs. So we worked with Koni to develop a custom-valved shock that works like it was designed specifically for our springs - because they are. They're based on the adjustable Koni Sport and carry the same lifetime warranty.

About the springs:

FM springs are well known for providing a good balance of street ability and track performance. Their combination of ride height - giving the suspension room to work - and spring rate means your Miata will ride and handle better than you would expect from a set of performance springs.

There's more going on than you think, though. See that section with the tighter coils? Those are designed to act as a secondary spring, keeping the spring from going loose under full droop. While these rates might sound high compared to some other springs on the market, they are stiff enough to keep your car off the bumpstops. Softer springs will often give a worse ride because they allow you to blow through your suspension travel and end up on the stops. We've specified a powdercoat with a high zinc content for extra corrosion resistance, too.

How much will they lower your car? We can't tell you, because Mazda changed the ride height of Miatas over the years. However, if you measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, you can compare your car to the final result. It's not a huge drop but once you drive the car you'll appreciate how well it works.

Specifications for the NC
Front springs: 300 lb/in
Rear springs: 196 lb/in
Front ride height: 13.5"
Rear ride height: 13"

About the shocks:

The FM Koni Sport shocks have custom valving developed and tested specifically for FM springs. They're adjustable for rebound so you can crank them up when you're feeling frisky on the autocross course. They come with a lifetime warranty.

About the sway bars:

Sway bars are used to make your car corner flatter and react faster by keeping the body (and all the weight) under control. Ours are set up for neutral handling and are adjustable so you can tailor the handling of your Miata to your own driving style. Our swaybars are hot formed from 4140 CrMo spring steel. This means they're stronger than the cold-formed bars found elsewhere. We've designed them to keep the same handling balance as your stock sways, but they have two settings in the front and three in the rear for fine-tuning. Includes brackets and urethane bushings with waterproof grease. The NC are hollow front and rear, with sizes of 1" front and 0.75" rear. These sizes are typically not harsh enough to cause damage to the stock swaybar mounting points.

Say Goodbye to the Wine and Cheese set
The NC Miata’s do not enjoy the highest respect among the faithful. A friend said that my 2009 NC2 Touring model qualified me for the ‘wine and cheese’ set. Never mind that it had the factory suspension package with Bilstein’s and limited slip diff, I was branded. In stock form, it actually seemed to work OK, until I installed the FM sway bars, then the rest of the Koni Stage 2 package. Night and day doesn’t begin to describe the improvement: to the silky smooth shock valving and perfect spring rates, to the way both ends of the car now talk to each other, to the dead flat and perfectly balanced cornering manners that beg you for more. This Koni package is the perfect balance between going for groceries with my wife and smoking my favorite backroads. It made a trip from Colorado to Texas and back without suffering (except for the speed limits). Somehow, again, the FM Mad Scientists have managed to get us a much more grounded and composed platform, combining adjustable world class precision and cornering stability with a perfect ride height (13.5 inches on mine), AND a more compliant ride, eliminating the stock harshness. All this on my all-season tires no less. This is the package you want. The wine and cheese set won’t miss you, but they will wonder about that big smile on your face.

Crisp, firmer but controlled -- a much better handling Miata!
I recently bought a 2006 Miata Grand Touring with only 32,000 miles and the OEM Bilstein sport suspension, and felt that it was too softly sprung and rolled excessively, compared to my prior '99 Miata with Koni Sport shocks and Racing Beat sway bars, so after studying two coil-over kits and two competing packages, chose the FM Koni Stage 2 package. My expectations were fully met, as now the Miata turns into corners with very little body roll and a firmer, crisper but still compliant ride that doesn't bounce off of the bump stops. I have the shocks set at 3/4 turn from full soft, per FM's recommendations, and aligned to FM's specs, and my "corner carving demon" handles beautifully. While I have yet to autocross this Miata, the more precise steering and rapid transitions will greatly improve its performance over stock. The Miata now feels like a true "sports" car, while remaining comfortable for longer trips.

Great shocks
Got the shocks first as a comprehensive rebuild and a cheaper alternative to replacing Mia. My old shocks were shot at 250K miles and the ride difference was phenomenal. Yet to test on twistys but I am quite confident as they appear to surpass stock. currently set on soft setting, and appreciate the ability to mod them although I will need to borrow a 8 year old girl to do the back ones due to Mia's cramped access.

Excellent suspension for the NC
Transformed the care completely, it now handles like a sport car but yet is compliant enough for daily use.

Great upgrade.
As stated, I was a little disappointed in the handling of my NC, having owned two NAs. Not anymore. The ride is stiff but not uncomfortable. And the handling is phenomenal. Very neutral and predictable. Much closer to my NAs.
