Description

Details

Let's face it, hood props are a pain. They're always in the way when you're working on a car. Our hydraulic lift kits open the hood further and give you full access. Great for show cars or weekend mechanics.

Includes a pair of low power hydraulic struts so that the hood is lifted evenly. A single strut has a tendency to lift one side of the hood slightly when the hood is closed and twist the hood when it's up. Because each strut only has to support half the hood's weight, it can be smaller and more compact.

As used on all of our V8 conversions as well as pretty much every car in the Flyin' Miata fleet. Stylish black with a high-power Flyin' Miata logo on the side. Made by I.L. Motorsports.

You will need to drill and tap one hole in the hinge on each side to install. Fits all 1990-05 Miatas.

Awesome product; easy install for me
Installed these with the hood in the normal up position. Purchased the drill and tap. Made a couple of simple measurements per the instructions, drilled and tapped holes and then screwed in ball fittings. Popped the strut back on to the ball fittings. For me this was a fairly simple install. They work extremely well and provide excellent access to the engine components. Makes engine bay look very clean and got rid of the old hood rod!

They work but the install is painful.
These are not bolt-on. A drill and tap are required. Instructions are poorly illustrated, and poorly written, and they use the Queen's English, meaning that some translation will be required for anyone living in the states (hint for those of you who speak American English: "Wing" = "Fender").

Great product
Great product, works really well. There were some clips in the bag and i'm honestly still not sure what they are used for because they weren't in the instructions.

i had no issues during installation, however, once you have both ball joints installed on my NA miata i had to pull the lift down to get both ends onto the ball joints. It was easier after i depressed them once on the ground before installation.

Clean underhood look
I put these in about a week ago. Installation was actually a lot harder then I expected. It was a tight fit using a wrench to bolt the strut to the fender. Then with the hole drilled in the hood, I had to wrestle the top in and start the nut going while holding the strut under compression because the strut is still partially compressed when the hood is all the way open. I also had to unbolt the hood from the bracket so that I had room to thread the nut, which meant I had to unbolt and reposition the hood on the brackets again later to get the hood to close properly again. It was worth the trouble though. The engine bay feels more open without the prop rod and lends it a clean, uncluttered look. The hood lifts up gently and slowly and closes all the way on the first try just like stock. $70 well spent.
