Details

This is a big burly brace machined out of 1/4" aluminum and powdercoated black. It ties together both lower rear control arm mounting points, and triangulates them to the subframe to prevent any possibility of shifting under side loads. The factory brace isn't triangulated - if the car even has one! Similar braces on the market are generally made of thin steel and aren't strong enough to handle the load without flexing. Exclusive to Flyin' Miata!

Exhaust removal not required for installation.
 
 Fits 1990-91 and 1999-05 Miatas, including the 2004-05 Mazdaspeed. You can mount it on a 1992-97, but you'll have to cut off a bracket for the stock brace.
 May have conflict with JR exhaust.

Of greatest benefit on a 1990 and 1991. Modifies thrust angle slightly in the direction of a turn.
Lets you brace the rear two tips of your rear subframe without having to weld tabs in place for that purpose if you have a 1990 or 1991 NA6. This brace stabilizes the dimension between the rear two pivot points of the lower control arm, and keeps the entire geometry of the rear potion of the sub-frame 'square' to the car. Mazda included a brace between the lower subframe points in the 1992 and later versions of the car. So this brace has the most effect on the 1990 and 1991 versions of the car. This said, the Cannon plate ties the lower rear points of the sub-frame to the top of the frame in a way that the factory brace does not. Since the front points of subframe are not braced, there will be a slight change in thrust angle in the rear wheels during high G turns. The unbrace front points of the subframe will flex slightly in the direction of the turn in high G turns. This changes the thrust angle of the rear wheels slightly in the direction of the turn, causing a tiny amount of 'four wheel steering' in a beneficial direction.

Great look and feel!
Stiffened the rear end right up! looks great and weighs nothing. Install was a bit tricky for me because I have a magnaflow cat back and it took work to get the support beam over it and snug.

Knocking a star off this review because when I snugged down the bolts for the control arms it took the powder coat around them with it exposing the naked aluminum.

Perfect fit, great quality. Would definitely buy again.
This piece is very well made and has a great fit and finish with the wrinkle black coating. Install was quite easy though I did notice that there is a slight angle/pitch with depth differences from alignment bolts to sway mounts. This was being used on an NB subframe, but once everything was snugged down it was perfect.

The instructions in the support forum and a little intuition made for a very very quick install.
