Emissions legal everywhere in the US! CARB EO D-601-3. The only truly CARB emissions legal turbo available for the 1.8!

Flyin' Miata turbo systems have been the standard for years. They offer easy installation of safe and clean power with proven durability. Our Stage 1 turbo system - once known as the Voodoo II - is ideal for someone looking for an easy installation, good horsepower, no emissions hassles and lots of upgrade potential. Expect approximately 175 hp at the rear wheels, compared to a stock 100 hp. This is limited by the size of the stock injectors.

The manifolds have just been redesigned after some CFD (computational fluid dynamics) testing. They now offer 24% greater flow than our previous design and are also more than 2.5 lbs lighter. Combined with the new outlet, the manifold / turbo / outlet assembly is nearly 4 lbs lighter! They have staggered runner diameters to ensure consistent timing of the exhaust pulses into the turbine. This means faster spool and the potential for higher power. Now Cerakoted! The manifold and outlet are both Cerakoted in C-7900 Glacier Titanium. It's rated for 1,800°F (980°C), so it's perfect for our application. We've been running this coating on our cars for over a year, and it's held up great through track days and daily driving. The new parts are a direct replacement for the old. Do you want even more info on our new manifolds and outlet? You're in luck! Check out our Knowledge Base article on them here.

The intercooler means that you will keep all of your horsepower no matter how hard you run your car. It's powder-coated for durability and good looks, but with a special thermal property that allows it to shed heat as well as bare aluminum. The FM logo on the intercooler can face forward (visible) or rearward (invisible).

All of our turbo kits use the same basic hardware for super easy upgrade-ability. Every part has been designed taking performance, durability and installation ease into consideration. We don't believe there is a better (or more complete) turbo system available. With our kits, you won't be making extra trips to the hardware store for nuts and bolts; every part you need is included.

However, you won't necessarily feel the need to upgrade. The Stage 1 ekes as much power as possible out of the stock injectors without resorting to mechanical tricks such as high fuel pressure. There's no tuning and no need to install high-pressure fuel pumps or bother with fuel lines at all. The car simply makes smooth, effortless power without a fuss.

Fuel management is handled by our own Voodoo Box, which uses the stock injectors to deliver more fuel. Because it only modifies the signal under boost, the car acts completely stock at idle and cruise. Tuning is a quick and simple process.

The turbo is a GT2560R, which is a great match to the Miata engine at this boost level. It makes just as much boost down low as a smaller unit, but without choking off the top end. It's now attached to the manifold with our custom-made Inconel studs and Stage 8 fasteners - an upgrade from the stainless steel studs we used to use.

Along with this turbo system, you will need a new clutch. Cars that see track use or are in hot climates will also require a radiator upgrade.

The downpipe may or may not fit with your automatic transmission. We've seen mixed results. We cannot guarantee fitment with an automatic. You could also need a vacuum accumulator and there might be some idle issues - in short, while it can be made to work, prepare for a bit of a headache if you're installing this on an automatic car.

Water supply note: if you are using an FM coolant reroute, choose the reroute option. The reroute itself is not included.

Oil supply note: if you're not sure what block you have, choose the 1996-05 option.

Tools note: A 37/64 drill bit and 3/8" NPT tap are required for installing the oil drain and two M8x1.25 nuts are used as "tools" to install the turbo studs. If you do not already have these tools available to use, we have a separate tool kit available to purchase, Bag 2A.

Remember, all FM products come with full Lifetime Support to the original purchaser!

We have a series of videos on how to install this kit. Note, it's fairly in-depth so make sure you have your popcorn and comfy chair handy.

Some of the most enjoyment I've had working on my NA8

Love this kit and love this company!

I own a 97 NA and it's gone from a completely bone stock, garaged kept weekend driver- to a complete bolt on monster, without cutting any corners or using cheap parts. To me- that meant that I needed a kit that would be carb legal and reliable, as well have the extra ability to throw a stand alone ECU and larger injectors to min-max everything. This is the only kit that checks both of those boxes, so it was a no brainer for me.

The packaging of each bolt/washer/component and instructions were top notch! The colored instruction BOOK was also very helpful and an easy reference to look back on. I'd recommend that you take your time with this project. The install is NOT difficult at all, but it IS enjoyable. Blowing through it in a weekend, you might miss out a lot on the "journey" and realize that the destination comes sooner than you'd like!

The only issue I've personally had (that is due to no fault of FM themselves, in fact- they were more than willing to help and diagnose) was boost creep.

I live in the PNW and doing my own research, it appears that boost creep can be an issue here. With larger injectors and a standalone at a higher boost level, the creep may not be an issue- but at the recommended 5-6 psi level, the wastegate isn't able to evacuate enough waste efficiently that the AFR's/Boost begins to climb and leans out.

I really do love this kit. Any time I open the hood for friends, they know it's quality

We're glad that you enjoy the kit so much, that's what we love to hear! FYI that we recommend around 8 psi for '90-'00 cars and 6 psi (depending on fuel quality) for '01 - '05.

You will NOT be disappointed

This is the BEST upgrade for your miata. I had heard of people doing their own turbo charger conversions and saving some cash, but trust me, assembling this kit on your own would be an extreme time-consuming challenge with likely subpar results. This kit has every bolt and nut to turbocharge your miata and it can be installed by a hobbyist with simple hand tools over a weekend. No hassle with tuning, just install and go. Even if you do decide you would like more power down the road, this would be a great kit to build upon. Even at a relatively modest 8 psi of boost, the car now has plenty more power than I can give it on the track with my current level of driving ability. I'm doubtful I'll ever feel the need to upgrade, and I don't think you could ever beat the reliability of this kit with an aftermarket ECU.

This kit is awesome

I have a 2002 Miata. I have to say after almost a six months of research on turbo kits, it was apparent that Flyin Miata was the way to go. I am more than happy to say that this Voodoo kit was the way to go. It took me exactly a week to install this kit with a few friends that have expierence with turbos. The instructions were wonderful and very clear. As far as the Voodoo box goes it's extremely is to figure out and tune. I am very pleased with this kit and very pleased with the power increase. I would definitely recommend any of Flyin Miatas kits. The kits come with every thing you need, literally. If you are serious about boosting your Miata and you want to do it the right way, go with Flyin Miata.

Flyin' Miata personnel and the results of their work are Oustanding!

Flyin' Miata recently installed their Voodoo II Turbocharger Kit in my 2003 Miata, also upgrading the clutch and radiator to accommodate the increased engine torque and energy. Smaller additional equipment replacements were recommended and accepted to assure engine endurance. Thoroughly pleased with the results of the installation of turbocharger and other upgrades, including the clutch which now operates perfectly smoothly and effectively without any slipping or grabbing, and the Miata's acceleration is nothing short of amazing! Everyone at Flyin' Miata, from initial phone call to ordering the equipment and scheduling the installation, to Miata drop off and pick up at Flyin' Miata in Palisade, were thoroughly informative, helpful, and a pleasure talk with. I should have had Flyin' Miata do this installation 10 years ago! An amazing experience in all regards.
