Rear main seals are a pain to install. If you push them in just a bit too far, there's no way to pull them back out again and you usually end up trashing the seal. That's frustrating - especially if you don't have an extra seal on hand.

Enter the FM rear crank seal installer. Simply slip the seal over the edge of the crank, put the installer over top and tighten it down using a few of the stock flywheel bolts. When the tool bottoms out, the seal is perfectly installed. A great addition to your tool box.

Our new tool is made of carbon fiber reinforced nylon. This avoids any potential scratches to the metal surfaces of the engine. It's also less likely to get dented or gouged while bouncing around your toolbox, which minimizes the chance of damage to the rubber seal.

Printed on our Markforged printer out of Onyx materal. Not only is Onyx strong, it's also highly resistant to chemicals such as oil and gasoline - unlike many other materials used in additive manufacturing. This new production method allows us to bring the price down while improving the part at the same time!

Fits all 1990-05 Miata engines.

Worth the cost to do a proper job

We've all smacked in front main seals, different seals, and transmission seals with a hammer. But a rear main, especially on a Miata, is a bit of a temperamental seal, let alone difficult to get to!

The installer tool worked wonderfully, a bit of oil on the seal itself and it sat perfectly flush on the case and crank.

Fantastic install tool

Well made, well designed. The installation tool, just as if your are installing the seal with a mallet, requires that the new seal be lubricated with oil so it seats evenly around the crank.

Great purchase to ensure that the rear main seal sits flush and where Mazda designed it to be. No one wants to remove a transmission again in 2000 miles after the seal starts leaking after misalignment or damage.

Buy the tool.

The plastic rear main seal installer tool needs to be va Redesign

The plastic tool design its not stiff, i couldn’t push the seal completely in. The area around where the flywheel bolt pushes on the plastic tool deforms.

Note from FM: the seal needs to be lubricated on installation. If the plastic is deforming, the seal is not moving easily and is either caught on something or dry. We use these tools ourselves and we know they work.

Good product..... Worth the money!!!!!

Made of plastic..... Other than than works great

Note from FM: the nylon construction is actually better than our old billet tools when it comes to dealing with seals and sealing surfaces. As a bonus, it keeps the cost down.
