LED Visor Light Kit for NA and NB

The lights themselves work wonderfully and the install instructions were clear. Love it.

Curiously, the stock wire colors in my miata weren't the same as in the instructions (gray, to be specific); they were red and blue with red stripe. I just guessed that blue is closer to gray than red is, and it worked out fine.

(If you don't have your visor screws because you, like me, unthinkingly threw them out along with the visors, #10-3/4" self-tapping sheet metal screws work as an imperfect substitute.)

This pairs well with the FM LED interior bulb, and I recommend purchasing both if you're going to buy these, since you'll be there already and it'll look more coherent.

My only gripe (and it's a small one) is that it looks weird to have the dome light behind a plastic cover, while the LEDs are visible. It might be nice to have some OEM-style covers for these lights as well, so that it looks more "factory."

Getting in and out of my Miata is something I do every single time I go to drive it. This mod makes that process so much more fun at night. I open the door, and the entire interior is well lit so I can find anything I might need, and get driving faster. In the middle of a drive, if I need to see something in the car quickly, this light makes it possible.

I didn't think I would like this mod as much as I did when I installed it. I notice it is there every single time I get in and out of my car. It's amazing, every Miata owner should pick this up and remove those useless sun visors!

The kit came with everything needed -- however, I did not use the supplied crimp connectors, as I'm proficient with soldering. The included wires and connectors are pretty beefy, unlike some of the other kits on the market. Just be VERY CAREFUL when removing the footwell lights (if applicable for your model) - the passengers side 12v power wire is very, very short. You will absolutely rip it right out and have to re-solder it on. The drivers side has a little more room.

The kit has one downside, however - the mounts are clearly 3D printed. I haven't noticed it since I put the lights in, but when I inspected the components on arrival I did notice lots of the weird little 3D print lines. Again, I couldn't notice it after install unless I really, really tried.

Overall a fantastic kit that every Miata owner should buy and install!

I think this is the only time I've ever been disappointed by a purchase from FM. I love the concept, but the way this kit is wired, the way it requires you to splice wires, double them back on one another, and ground to the switch, is just a mess. I got it "working" but never got it right.

By contrast, i bought a similar kit off a well-known homemade/handmade-product selling app from a small vendor that was completely plug-in - zero stripping, splicing etc. - I didn't even have to take the window trim off the car. It was installed in >5m.

Bummed, because literally every other FM purchase I have made has been top notch engineering and quality.

These little beauties are awesome, turning your once dim interior into a place of shining splendor…. Where you can see everything with all your new found lumens. Of course this means you now also see your ratty seat covers and tired carpet, but hey, one restoration step at a time. Install isn’t too challenging with some very basic wiring skills and the resulting light levels are fantastic. I highly recommend these LED upgrades to take you out of the lighting stone age.

my only complaint is that the packaging directs you to the website for instructions to install and there are none on the website.

the actual install is fairly straightforward as it is LED lights and not rocket boosters. I ended up with extra materials as I was not sure where FM wanted the customer to wire the the power (I soldered the wire to the passenger footwell light)

for similar instructions that aren't exactly the same there is a competitor who has instructions on their website (rhymes with "boss biata")

the results are amazing, I got the "cool white" and it makes a huge difference anytime it isnt full daylight. I would absolutely recommend if you can live without visors.
