1.8 swaps are becoming more and more popular and with good reason. It's a simple way to get more power. In the past, there was some fabrication involved. Not anymore - this kit includes everything you need for the swap. All the parts are available separately as well.
- EGR plate kit
- throttle cable bracket
- coil bracket
- motor mount brackets (optional)
- rubber motor mounts (optional)
- throttle body adaptor kit
- electrical parts needed to extend your CAS wiring
If you're using a stock intake or don't want to swap thermostat necks, the hose splice will make your life a lot easier.
For more information on how to do a 1.8 conversion, we have two writeups - a short overview, and a more detailed version that will give you lots of specifics. Please read the more detailed version prior to buying the used parts for your swap to be sure you get the right parts for your purposes and to ensure they'll work together.
Your 1.6 computer does not require EGR, so you can either leave the plumbing in place or remove it. If you do the latter, 1994-1997 and 2001-2005 exhaust manifolds will need an EGR cap while 1999-2000 exhaust manifolds will need an EGR plug.
The coil bracket is not compatible with VVT engines.
If you use an NB intake manifold (which moves the throttle body closer to the valve cover) and a 1.6 auto TPS (which is much thicker than the manual version), you'll find hard interference between the TPS and the valve cover. This may or may not be solvable, depending on how aggressive you're willing to get with modifications. This is a pretty rare combination of parts to need.
