Skunk2 Ultra intake manifold

Did we bolt on 30 hp? We did.
This is a special order product. Approximate ship time will be .

Finally, an aftermarket intake manifold that delivers the goods! On back to back testing with one of our high-power cars, we saw  peak power rise by more than 30 hp. Even naturally aspirated cars see an improvement.

The manifold has very long runners with well-designed bellmouths to feed hungry cylinders. The walls are fairly thick so you can port to your heart's content. The two-piece design allows you to add a spacer to increase the volume of the plenum. The throttle body opening is 68mm if you want to run a big throttle body, and the flange design allows you to fit this manifold to either NA or NB heads and can use either stock or Skunk2 throttle bodies. It includes a phenolic spacer to prevent heat transfer from the head to the manifold.

Sorry, it won't fit a 1.6. It will fit an NA8 head, but you will need to use an aftermarket fuel rail. We have also had reports of hard interference between short injectors (such as ID 1050s) and the manifold on an NB application. It may interfere with a 1.6 starter. Be prepared to deal with potential fitment problems if you have a lot of non-stock parts. Please note that we cannot ship this product to California as it will not meet emissions regulations.

The 30 hp gain was on back-to-back dyno tests of our 2.0 R&D car with a GT3071 turbo. We used a stock throttle body for both runs, and the VTCS manifold had the butterflies removed.

Wonderful Performance, Mediocre Finish, Difficult install.
After getting the thing in the car runs awesome. There is no question that the hp is increased by 30 ponies. This is not a project for the amateur though! I consider myself an expert mechanic with 50 yrs of overhauls and rebuilds under my belt. On a scale of 1 to 10 this is a 7 or 8 on the expletive scale. The finish out of the box is pretty rough. I spent about 40 hrs grinding, sanding to get it to my standards. But when all was said and done: I use to call my Miata my baby car, now it's my baby Beast!
5 starts for performance! 3 stars for finish.

Does not fit NA MX5/Miatas.
I think its worth confirming fitment for all years. As i just attempted to fit it to my 1995 1.8 mx5 and it does not fit. The stock fuel rail feeds are sitting within the plenum chamber. A little disappointing from Skunk2 as it suggests fitment to all years.

As a product it appear to be good, although the machine finish is not the best on the flat mounting surfaces.

I will update this if a solution is found to fit it to my NA8. All the best.

Note from FM: Ryan provided us some photos, and it appears that you will need an aftermarket fuel rail in this case.
