Takes time to do it right
Sure you can drill some holes and bolt it down but IMO.......
Paint them, rustoleum hammered black works well
The outside lip is relatively flush with the floor pan, the other side is not. Use aluminum washers to fill the gaps where you drilled holes. One one the outside lip per hole between 1 and 4 on the inside.
Point bolts into passenger compartment. Buy 20 twenty mm and 4 25mm
Don't mount the gas and brake lines as shown. Use the brackets but drill a hole in the floor pan (6mm bolt) and mount there.
Por-15 all holes inside and out.
One man job. Definitely worth it.

Note from FM: the rails are stainless steel, so paint is not required for protection although black paint will make them less visible. If you point the bolts upward, you do run the risk of abrading through the carpet in the footwell as occupants rub against them.

Frame rails for old racer
Stiffened up the floor to the point that the doors now fit better.

Must buy
Incredible item. It drastically changed the rigidity of my car.

Easy to do, definitely worth it
I installed these on a '91 NA with badly squashed frame rails. It took about an hour of hammer work to get the frame rails straight enough to begin the installation. The installation itself was pretty easy. I did it by myself over a few hours, which included adding some sound proofing to the floor pan. The main difference I noticed was more precise turn in and side-to-side transitions in winding roads. My car already has a roll bar and FM shock mount brace that helped to stiffen the chassis. These FM rails definitely added to the overall package. One tip - remove the protective plastic from the rails before installing them. I left it on to reduce scratching as I bolted them in. It is a real pain to get off after the rails are installed!

A worthwhile addition
I borrowed a younger friend's 11 yr old to be my assistant on the install. It would have taken forever by myself between short arms and old age. The rails are not marked so look at the pictures and get them right. It should be no problem if you pay attention to how they go. I have not beat on the car hard but when driving the 1/4 mile from my house to the highway up a rough caliche road, there is definitely a lot less body/fender shake and the car feels a lot tighter. I am very satisfied with the result. I did replace the two longer bolts on the passenger side inner rail ends as they were awfully close to the four fuel lines-so all my bolts on that rail inside were all short when I got through.

Worth it.
Installed on a 94 NA 1.8 and made a significant difference in chassis rigidity and allowed the suspension to do it's job more effectively. Can not comment on the install as I had it professionally done. My vehicle is used primarily for trackdays and autocross.
