You can never go wrong with Koni
I've had Koni setups before on prior vehicles that I've owned. Liked them very much so I figured I couldn't go wrong putting them on my Miata. My previous '02 (I've owned two) had the VMaxx coil-overs on it, which was fine. However, once I set the ride height at installation, I never messed with it again. So the fixed ride height of the Koni shocks and FM springs was acceptable to me. Installation wasn't without challenges, primarily with problems I brought on myself. I installed the bump-stops upside down. Don't do what I did. Remember - the tapered end points toward the shock body. Also, don't get turned around and install the spring perches upside down on the rear, unless you like that retro 60's and 70's look with your Miata's tail kicked up in the air. Or, perhaps make the fronts match and build your very own Baja Miata. In any case, to correct the bump-stop debacle and the rear spring perch issue involved about 3 extra hours of wrenching. All is well, now. The vehicle sits about 3/4" lower than stock and looks great. Koni suspensions always handle well, so I'm looking forward to many years of driving pleasure. Cheers all. Remember - orient the bump-stops the right way the first time and don't get turned around with the spring perches.

Worth Every Penny
The Flyin Miata Koni State 1 Suspension Package was a great purchase for a great ride and I could not be happier with the results. That was truly a wise investment to enjoy your Miata ride on any type of surface. Allelluia !!!!!

I'm giving this product four stars, only because I can't give it four and a half.
This suspension package is everything they say it is. The adjustable Konis provide a great ride; stiffer than stock, but not in any way harsh. I used the base setting included in the instructions, but it's possible set it for a stiffer ride.

A friend and I did the install and only encountered one issue we didn't anticipate. When the shocks and springs were newly installed, wasn't possible to use the lock washer with the nut for the top shock bolt. Initially the washer wouldn't leave enough thread to get the nut on. I drove it for a week with only the top nut bolted on and by then the bushings at the top had compressed enough to allow the nut and the lock washer to be bolted on.

One other thing. Don't make the same mistake this noob did with the install. DON'T tighten all the bolts until the car has its full weight on the wheels. I tightened everything up before we let it down and it wouldn't let the suspension settle to the proper height.

Note from Flyin' Miata: We've found the new shock bushings being supplied by Mazda are thicker than the originals, and this problem with trying to install the top nut is common to all shocks.

Damned fine kit!!!
I installed this kit on my '99 @ 60k miles. Still using the FM default settings, I could not be happier with the results. The ride is firmer but in no way harsh. The car corners flatter. Handling much improved. I would say that the springs lower the car to a "just right" height.

I ran into the thickness problem with new bushings. I used a benchtop belt sander to remove about 4 - 5 mm.

Support, as always, top notch.

A great setup
I have had this setup installed for around 3 weeks. I purchased them completely assembled with all new hardware simplifying installation. After installation I drove around for a week to let things settle then installed new tires and got a 4 way alignment.

I purchased the car with Racing Beat springs over stock Bilsteins. This was a horrible set up which resulted in constant bottoming out and ultimately blown seals in the shocks.

I returned to the stock "Hard S" springs over KYB shocks. Not bad and just a bit of wallowing everywhere.

The FM kit is perfect. This is my daily driver and I put on an average of 100 miles per day. The ride is great and the stance is perfect. I do not autocross or track the car so with the exception of some chassis bracing, it is just where i want it to be.

Highly recommended!!!

Big improvement in handling and ride control
I replaced the tired OEM suspension on my 2001 SE with this kit and have really enjoyed the way it changed the character of the car. The ride is firm but not harsh on the other settings. Body roll is minimized and the car feels very agile. The car also sits slightly lower, but not so much that I worry about bottoming-out on bumps or pulling into the driveway. If you are looking for a good street setup, this could be the way to go. Unfortunately, I can’t comment on track use.

NB conversion on 94'
Replaced my 60k-mileage stock NA suspension with NB Koni + FM spring kit. Car is quieter, corners flatter, and dives less under braking. It's not race car suspension, so it retains a tiny bit of the roly-poly fun from the stock suspension using the recommended 3/4 turn damper setting and stock sway bars. This is how the car should have come from the factory.

Car is now poised, predictable, and comfortable.
I upgraded from stock suspension with 90,000 miles on it. I live in a city with very rough roads in places so some comfort along with stability were both very important to me. This kit has been perfect. The car used to become very unsettled when it hit any kind of bump going around a corner quickly. Now the car maintains its poise and is much more predictable in corners. That poise also translates into an even more comfortable ride over rough city streets than the stock suspension since it no longer crashes and bounces over potholes and bumps. The bump is hit once and the suspension comes right back to rest at normal rather than the drawn out drama of the stock suspension. I had no previous experience with suspension and installation took about 6 hours going slow and taking my time. Flexhead 3/8" drive socket wrench highly recommended for getting to the driver side rear mount.
