Lowered intake temperatures significantly, added slight amount of power at all RPMs
It was definitely worth cutting the hole in my firewall, now I can run 87 and not get any pre-ignition. With my previous K&N Typhoon Hot Air Intake, I had severe pinging with 87 gas and had to use 93. The difference in performance is noticeable when compared to my old intake, which was so close to the exhaust manifold it was losing me power at all RPMs

Results are suspect
While I have no doubt that you had increased power when the car wasn't moving, I question that there would be any kind of power increasing at speeds in excess of 70 MPH. The cowl area is a low pressure area. There is no "RAM" air there. The pressure will be lower and not higher. Put a pressure gauge there and see what happens.

Worth it!
Got this for my NB2, once you make the cut the install is easy, I recommend drilling a hole through the top of the cowl into the intake where it attaches before you put the rubber seal back on and installing a set screw, helps keep it from sliding out of place from where you make the hole.

Love the gains, love the look. Really adds something to the engine bay, for the price it's a great buy over a cold air intake.

Love the look and performance
After much debate and even trial and error (DDM Stage 1 Intake installed, then removed), I decided to purchase and install the Randall Cowl Intake from Flyin Miata on my 2002. I love the way it looks and it was the only intake I could find with real dyno supporting info.

For me, installation was a bit difficult as you have to cut a hole into the engine bay area. Measure 10 times, cut once. When I got over that part, install was easy.
