All the handling benefits of our Stage 2 suspension with some extra travel in the rear for an even better ride.

We consider this suspension package to be well designed for the Miata that has to do everything. For example, when we go to a track day, we have to drive 5 hours over twisty, bumpy mountain passes to get to the track. Then, after pounding our turbo Miatas around the track all day, we drive home over those passes. This suspension is equally happy in both situations.

How much will this kit lower your car? We can't tell you, because Mazda changed the ride height of Miatas over the years. However, if you measure from the center of the wheel to the fender lip, you can compare your car to the final result. It's not a huge drop but once you drive the car you'll appreciate how well it works.

A new rear spring design allows the popular FM rear mounts to work with Koni shocks. Previously, this was a combination that was not recommended.

A common question is how this setup compares to retrofitting an NB setup to an early car. Well, that's easy: it's better. The FM mounts add a significant amount of extra travel in the rear.

Specifications:
Front springs: 318 lb/in
Rear springs: 233 lb/in
Front ride height: 12.5"
Rear ride height: 13"

Includes four springs and shocks as well as two rear upper shock mounts and new polyurethane bumpstops all around. We recommend you check the condition of your front mounts to see if they have collapsed. This can be done while they're installed.

Go for it - highly recommended
Works great on the street as a daily commuter and really makes a huge difference compared to stock suspension. Significantly "tighter" feel without being harsh. Just low enough but not too low. Hard balance to achieve, but FM kit just works! With this kit, I had no need for a spring compressor, I assembled all before mounting in my 96 NA. With FM suggested settings for ride height on the Koni perches, I ended up with 12.8" front and 13.0" rear (fender lip to mid wheel). I wasn't convinced that the dual pitch spring (fronts only, rears are single pitch) would work well but they do. Trust FM on this one. Sway bars also made a big difference in body roll. Car feels tighter and more in control. Installation is easy but takes a while because of all the miscellaneous suspension bolts that have to be loosened or removed. Marking the location of alignment bolts before loosening allowed me to put the suspension back together and have acceptable alignment for a couple of weeks to let suspension settle down before real alignment. FM should make a youtube video of how to assemble the shocks/springs/mounts as well as the disassembly/ assembly process to help out beginners. Documentation provided is sufficient but could be better with at least showing photos of main steps. Hardest part of this job was tightening the top suspension nut on the Konis since there is no flat to stop the shocks from spinning (Koni design related, nothing to do with FM). Overall, after 1000 miles, the FM Koni stage 2.5 is definitely worth it. Well put together kit that takes the guesswork out of picking individual parts that work together. FM's experience in Miatas shows again.

Very Happy Customer
I went back and fourth with all the different options for replacing my 97 Miata's worn out suspension. After months of reading forums I gave the very helpful folks at Flyin' Miata a call I landed on this package. It took an excruciating couple of weeks for them to get all the parts together and I did my best to not bug them in the meantime. Installing was a good bit of work as I did all of this myself in my garage. Some of the instructions were a bit confusing (maybe some video or detailed pics and diagrams would help) but thinking about it and working methodically I got it put back together in a weekend. With experience and a step bit in hand I'm confident I could do it again in a day. I have yet to get the alignment as I'm letting the suspension settle and checking to make sure the bolts stayed tight after a few weekends of running it around. The difference so far is amazing! It feels much tighter and absorbs the bumps on the street way better than the blown out shocks and stock springs I had on it. I didn't know the old shocks were so bad until I took them off. It goes through the turns much better than before, my back end has a bit more throttle steer than before and turns in flat. If you are looking for a comfortable street setup that looks good you can't go wrong with this setup. (Note: I also installed 949 end links I bought a while back on all four corners as well).
