What's the toy? A clutch tool!

The FM Happy Meal includes a Flyin' Miata clutch and Flyin' Miata flywheel. along with a clutch switch override, pilot and release bearings You get to choose the specification. The Happy Meal will fit any 1990-05 Miata, including 1.6 engined cars.

The FM Level 1 clutch is rated for 318 lb/ft of torque, and is perfect for Voodoo or FM2 kits with relatively stock engines. It's a real sweetheart, offering near-stock pedal pressure and smooth engagement, but it's strong enough to cope with anything stock engine internals can put out.

Our Level 2 organic clutch has a higher pedal pressure and higher 353 lb/ft torque rating. It's probably stronger than the transmission, and we have not yet met a 4-cylinder Miata that can make it slip. Both the clutch and the flywheel are SFI certified.

For the flywheel, you have the option of our 10.3 or 13.5 lb units. We recommend the slightly heavier flywheel for supercharged cars, the lighter one for turbo and naturally aspirated. You choose! Either flywheel may cause some harmless drivetrain noise on closed-throttle deceleration, and the lighter one is more prone to this.

We recommend bypassing the starter interlock on your clutch when installing a stronger pressure plate. This allows you to start the car in neutral without putting your foot on the clutch and your thrust bearing will appreciate it! We have a cool little clip that makes this easy without any wiring - it's included with the kit.

Great drivability, good assertive pedal pressure, it slips under high load
My clutch slipped on the dyno. It's about a year old with at least two months of downtime. Clutch had about 10,000mi on it.

Note from FM: please contact us with details about this.

Money down the drain
This clutch does not last long at all and I had manual cars for decades. my car doesn't go on the track, only used as a daily driver. no other mods to the engine to increase hp or torque. but it started to slip about a year and a half after install. after talking to the shop that installed it who work on a lot of miatas, they told me they replace many of these "happy" meal kits. I wish I asked them first which clutch to buy before reading all these positive reviews. I am so mad I wasted so much money on this pos. I can no longer trust flyin Miata's products and will stay away from them in the future.

Not so happy meal
I wouldn't buy this or recommend it to anyone. I've only driven manual cars and in 13 years only replaced one clutch on an older Miata. This happy meal kit lasted only 8,000 miles! Less than a year! When it was removed I was told something was wrong with the pressure plate springs. I don't know much about cars but it was installed by a shop that only works on Miata's and I've always trusted them. Ever since it was installed the clutch feels jerky. I thought it was just a new clutch but after I installed a new Mazdaspeed Miata clutch I knew something was wrong with the happy meal kit. So I sent it back so they could check it out. They sent it to the manufacturer and they said nothing was wrong. It looked like a 40k clutch. So I guess they built it to go out at 40k, if that's the case why spend 1200$ on it. Buy something else!

Having said that, flyin Miata has the best customer service, they kept me in the loop the whole time and tried their best to give me some credit. But 20$ doesn't make much of a dent when you spent over 4 grand on a new clutch and voodoo turbo (which I have yet to install and now have to save more money to get it on).

Take a chance, if you want.

Can't go wrong for the Price
Ordered the level 2 clutch with the 10lb flywheel.
I have a 01 NB naturally aspirated. I wanted something more aggressive than stock and something that would grab harder than the OEM clutch. This kit is very cheap compared to other clutch packages. The quality is excellent, no complaints. Clutch pedal pressure isn't bad at all for a level 2 pressure plate. After around 300 miles the drivability feels factory, very forgiving. I think this is the best Clutch package for the price for the miata, very pleased with the outcome. Pay attention to the pedal adjustment, that is (Mandatory) to preform after the install. I called them several times when I ran into trouble with the pedal adjustment and they were very kind to help me and answer all my questions extensively.

Happy meal, happy driver!
I bought the level 1 clutch and flywheel happy meal when the stock clutch started slipping at 180,000 miles on my 2003 Miata with the hard suspension package. Right after installation the clutch did release close to the floor but after a couple of thousand miles I'm happy to report it releases at a perfectly normal height and the pedal feels the same as the original.
What I like best about the flywheel is it makes the motor more responsive at any RPM and throttle in normal street driving. The balance of the flywheel is great. I may be imagining things but the motor feels smoother at highway speeds.
I'm 57. I had a header, loud exhaust and a Holley intake on my 1976 RX3 30 years ago but didn't feel that it would be age appropriate for me to put a tin can muffler or cold air intake on my Miata. The lightweight flywheel gave me more "zoom zoom" without added exhaust or intake noise.
The car is my daily driver and is still easy to live with. The wife can drive it without problems. I'm glad I made the upgrade and look forward to many more happy miles, maybe 300,000?

Decent I guess?
This is a great clutch while it lasts, but both the ones I've bought only lasted a year and a half. They were installed correctly and the instructions followed carefully but both started to slip. It's a daily driver that doesn't race so I don't know what the problem would be.

Note from Flyin' Miata: We don't have specific information on this customer's wear problems, but generally speaking proper adjustment from the start is important to clutch life. 18 months is definitely less life than we'd expect from normal street use.

Excellent kit
My stock clutch was just about gone at 150,000 miles so in went the FM Level 1 with the 10 lb flywheel. The result? A combination that feels just about perfect; like factory, but with more revability, holding capacity and a slight bit of clutch whine/clatter when idling in neutral or in first gear. Nothing obtrusive, just there is all. Thanks to the 10 lb flywheel's reduced rotating inertia, the engine smoothly matches the speed of the transmission when I downshift before a turn without blipping the throttle. Put another way, light flywheel = engine spins up without jolting the chassis or breaking traction at the rear wheels. I don't have the coordination for heel-toe downshifting so this is a big deal for me. Great product.

Great clutch
Great clutch so far. Handled a supercharger with no problem. Super cool drivetrain noises. Would buy again.

Epic. Das goot. No clutch slip. Lots of tire slip.
Literal awesomeness. My 99 Miata's engine is even more rev-happy, the clutch never slips, and the burnouts never stop. I bought a Stage 1 kit, with a 10 lb flywheel since I was running a stock BP4W at the time (I still am). The install took 8 hours with the assistance of a friend/co-worker (it was the first clutch either of us had ever done), and man oh man was it worth it. The clutch pedal is actually lighter than stock, and the engagement is quick. Would I like to get a Stage 2 kit next time just for the heck of it? Possibly. Do I need to? Nope. Not at all. This Stage 1 kit has been running strong for an entire year of burnouts, drifting, mountain runs, stop-and-go traffic, and lots of really bad shifts. Along with really good ones. And super quick ones. And heel-toe downshifting that has progressed from so terrible I want to forget it ever happened, to now where I am somewhat decent. Not great, but decent. And the clutch still never slips. Buy these kits for high quality, and for extra insurance on your Miata. I honestly can say I would stand behind these kits taking track days like a boss. Do 24 hours of racing with these. They don't care!

Awesome customer service and product
So I ordered this clutch and flywheel and hesitated on doing it myself since I've never done one. However I bit the bullet and did it myself and everything went smoothly installed just like factory fitment. Was super happy with it. Initially it engaged super low but after about 5 miles it started to engage maybe slightly lower than factory but no complaints I'm very happy with it.

About maybe a month and a half after ordering this product I received a phone call to see if everything went well. I was honestly shocked about this call but I'm very happy about the check in.

Replace the stock unit with this upgrade.
I installed this happy meal a few months ago and I could feel the difference immediately. The engine rev must faster and the clutch worked much better. The clutch pedal doesn't feel to hard. I almost feel like stock. This package did not disappoint.

The clutch engage very low in the pedal travel right after the install. After around 200 miles, the clutch engage a little higher. I did the install at home and it took me a few days.

Below is a link to my install. The install process can be done at home in your garage with hand tools.

Excellent package!
I bought this in conjunction with the FM II Turbo system because the OE clutch wouldn't be able to handle the torque.

Installation was straight forward, and everything fit as advertised.

The lightweight flywheel rev's very quickly and makes the car feel much sportier! The clutch modulates well but retains the stock pedal feel and response. It definitely holds well enough for great cornering even with lots of torque being applied to it.

Overall a great kit!

Great clutch kit!
The FM Happy Meal clutch kit has a great reputation, which is well deserved. Holding up well so far behind a NB2 1.8L VVT engine with full bolt-on's and MS3. My son has been brutal to the clutch during local drifting events, with no signs of slippage. Pedal pressure is very reasonable, which is a big plus for a performance clutch kit.

The most highly recommended clutch in the Miata community
Clutch is easy to modulate, light on the pedal, holds the torque, and has lasted me 7 years so far without a single hiccup.
