When you've got a GM LSx V8 engine stuffed in a Miata, your rod bolts are really, really close to your steering rack. So close that there's not room for a typical oil pan. We worked with Moroso to come up with the perfect conversion oil pan.
Obviously, it's wrapped really tightly underneath the crankshaft. It has a 5" deep sump that's deep enough for oil control, but shallow enough that it doesn't protrude below the subframe and become a potential impact point. We also added some strong baffling with hinged doors to give the best possible oil control.
Made to Moroso's high standards, the pan is aluminum and 9.8 lbs. You can either use a screw-on oil filter (the same dimensions as a C6 Corvette filter, filter included) or the pan can be supplied with a mount for a remote filter setup - the plumbing on that is up to you. Includes a pickup but not a windage tray. You will have to modify your existing windage tray slightly.
Fits all LS engines with a stroke of 3.622" or less, including the L33, LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6 and LS9. Will not fit the 4.0" stroke LS7. Suitable for all Miata chassis from 1990-15.
