When it comes to superchargers, Edelbrock knows their stuff. This unit was designed by many of the same people who designed our NC supercharger, and it's built along the same lines. It replaces the stock intake manifold with a custom-cast aluminum unit that has both the supercharger and an air/water intercooler integrated inside.
What's it like to drive? The car just feels like it has a bigger engine. The positive displacement style means there is always boost available instantly upon demand, regardless of engine RPM. The noise is fairly muffled, just a light overlay of the normal exhaust noise.
The blower itself is the latest six-generation Eaton TVS with four-lobe rotors for the best thermal efficiency and lowest heat gain available from a positive displacement supercharger. The integrated bypass means there is minimal effect on fuel economy at cruise.
Expect right around 200 hp at the wheels when using the Edelbrock tune. This tune is also emissions legal in all 50 states - including California! ARB EO D-215-95.
All superchargers come with the Edelbrock tune, even if you buy the no-electronics version. You just won't have any way to install it in that case.
Best of all, the supercharger comes with a warranty that protects you until the car hits 3 years or 36,000 miles. This is intended to maintain most of the factory warranty, it does not extend it. The kit must be a full electronics kit using the Edelbrock tune and professionally installed - details. Please note that you need to register your supercharger within 30 days of installation to get the warranty. If you choose to purchase without electronics, the warranty does not apply.
