If you pull the driveshaft out of your Miata, your transmission will develop a small incontinence problem. That output seal is going to start dribbling. Not fast, but enough that it will make a mess and probably pee in your ear at some point. It's even worse if you tip the transmission back, such as if you're doing a clutch change.
This inexpensive plug pops into the end of the trans and seals the hole. It's such a simple thing, but it makes a big difference to the job and your general level of happiness. Every toolbox should have one.
Covers output sizes from 1.300" - 1.550". A stepped design keeps it from falling out. Suitable for all Miata transmissions.
Ordered this from FM thinking this was something FM made specifically for the Miata. Ordered on a Tuesday morning with an expected delivery of that Thursday. Took until the following Wednesday (wasn't even shipped until Thursday) to arrive and the part was just a universal transmission plug from the Lisle kit (part# 23400) that can be bought at just about any car parts store. I literally waited a week for something I could have bought the day I really needed it. Overall pretty disappointed but it does work.
It's as easy as the title says. I had to pull my transmission and drained it, but had ordered this plug just in case to prevent any spills and it works great. I replaced the output seal after pulling my transmission, and some fluid still came out after removing this plug, so I know it helped during the transmission removal.
