The Koni STR.T (aka Koni Orange) is a non-adjustable shock that is essentially a Koni Sport (Yellow) set to full soft. It's a very high quality replacement for stock shocks that comes with a lifetime warranty. Shocks are an important factor in your car's handling and ride, and the stock non-Bilsteins only last about 30,000 miles before needing replacement. Even Bilsteins have a lifespan of under 100,000 miles - and these Konis will ride and handle better than a set of functioning stock Bilsteins anyhow, especially the 2006-12 ones.

Because of their valving, we do not recommend these shocks for cars with aftermarket springs. They do not have sufficient damping to control a spring with a higher spring rate, and the car will pogo around as if it had bad shocks. For that use, we recommend the Koni Sport.

Includes a set of our Multicellular Urethane bumpstops, which will improve ride quality, travel and the ability to absorb mid-corner bumps. We have found that many NCs by this point have disintegrated bumpstops anyhow. This is an exclusive upgrade only at Flyin' Miata!

Unlike the adjustable Koni Sport, the STR.T uses the same shaft design as stock so no modifications are required to the upper mount.

Koni STR.T shock and bump stop set 2008

I installed the Koni STR.T shocks and bumps stop set by myself. I also installed new shock bushings and spring isolators. Rent a quality spring compressor!
These shocks ride very nice! The soft, Cadilac floating, ride is gone and it handles SO much better, like a Miata should!

Night & Day Difference

My 2011 Grand Touring w/Sport Suspension Package needed new shocks and I weighed the options obsessively for weeks. I’m so glad I decided to keep the stock springs and go for the Koni Orange shocks vs the Yellows. The orange shocks are plenty firm for stock springs; I’m glad I didn’t pay extra for the yellow adjustable shocks because I wouldn’t want the car to be any firmer than it is now. Combined with the new bump stops my car is transformed. No more bottoming out, no more wallowing on highway expansion joints. The ride is firm and body control is excellent and even the steering turn in seems much sharper. If you need new shocks I can’t recommend these enough. They will totally modernize your car’s ride & handling.

Big Improvement over OEM

I purchased a low mile mileage 2009 NC in January. There wasn't much of a service record to speak of so I have been doing routine stuff. I noticed it was bottoming out on the rear on bumps I didn't think were that awful. I have always heard good things about Koni's but I really didn't want to go to an adjustable shock. Shipping was fast and the install went smoothly thanks to the excellent Flying Miata You-tube video. The only snag I ran into was a rusty sway link that had to be cut off and replaced. The original shocks didn't have bump stops or had completely disintergrated. The ride is exceptional now. The alignment will have to be done since the steering wheel is slightly off.
