If you`re installing a forged crank in your 2006-08 block, you need this tool.

If you're installing a forged crank in a 2006-08 Miata engine, you need this tool. Not because it will make your life easier, but because there is absolutely no way to time the engine properly otherwise.

Mazda never put a forged crank in those engines. So we had to design this tool ourselves to the precise length with help from the Mazda engineers. It screws into the block and acts as a TDC stop so you can ensure the crank is in the correct place when you bolt on all the various pulleys and gears. The MZR engines do not have alignment keys or dowels in them. There's a special Mazda factory tool to do this - but the dimensions are different for the forged crank, and Mazda changed the thread in the block when they changed the crank. So you can't use a factory forged crank tool in a block built for a non-forged crank. Yes, your head is probably spinning by this point. Just take it from us, you need it. And yes, it is a normal bolt machined down to a very specific length.

Available exclusively from Flyin' Miata.
