The Miata has always had one of the best feeling shifters on the planet. But as they get older, some of the components start to wear and it slowly loses precision. You might not even notice, but it's not what it was. Luckily, it's easy to rebuild, and you can access everything from inside the car.

This kit includes all the pieces you need to make your shifter feel new again. All internal components are factory Miata parts, the boot is a high-quality aftermarket equivalent.

For 1993 transmissions with a VIN of 413071 or higher.

Includes:

small shift boot (R501-17-47Z) lower shift bushing (0398-17-462A) upper shifter pivot ball bushing (R502-17-492) smooth wave washer (8599-17-482) tabbed wave washer (M505-17-482) lower shifter pivot ball bushing (M501-17-481) upper ball alignment bushing (M501-17-515) shifter shim x 2 (9996-33-130)

Shifter rebuilt 93

I know it’s not a mod, but I think this was the best thing I’ve done to my car. I used to have a bad rattle nose when I decelerated and now the noise is gone. I can’t believe I waited this long to rebuild my shifter.

Easy install - makes shifter just like new (or better!)

Easy to install - a very nice evening project for the Miata. Everything clearly labelled and packaged. The shifter is one of only 4 'points of contact' you have with the car, and it's important! I also put the brass bushing on (ordered separately on Amazon.... CX Racing, if I remember correctly). I had a leather shift boot already (not the OEM vinyl which cracks and looks 'old'), and a heavy Stainless Steel shift knob. Additionally, I cut about 1" off the OEM shaft, and threaded the shaft further down so the knob sits a bit lower. Used OEM Motorcraft synthetic manual transmission fluid. The entire setup now is tremendous. Couldn't be happier. This rebuild kit was a big part of making it all work out great.
