Description

Details

Go big or go home! For maximum power and spool, we now offer a full 3" exhaust system. When tested on our 266 rwhp 2004 Miata, we saw peak power jump by 16 hp, peak torque by 10 lb-ft and maximum boost showed up 200 rpm sooner when compared to one of our 2.5" systems.  Yes, it's available as an upgrade on all new kits.  Naturally, it's made on a CNC mandrel bender for perfect fit and better flow than a pieced-together version. And as with all of our exhausts, it's polished stainless steel from end to end.

The sound is deeper, but no louder than our other turbo exhausts. Due to the size and design of these components, the complete exhaust is replaced right from the turbine outlet to the tailpipe. The catalytic converter is a very high flow metal core unit. Compatible with all factory bracing and the butterfly brace. Lifetime warranty on the exhaust, 5 years/50,000 miles on the catalytic converter. Includes all hardware and gaskets.

Available as a complete package that includes a new 3" downpipe (compatible with all FM turbos that use the cast or fabricated turbine outlet) or a hybrid system that will bolt up to our standard 2.5" downpipe.

Dyno chart compared to our standard 2.5" FM turbo parts.

For all NB Miatas fitted with an FM II turbo system. For Voodoo and Voodoo II systems, we recommend adding the restrictor kit to help keep boost levels under control. The high flow metallic cat is more likely to cause check engine lights and the rear O2 sensor might have clearance problems, so it's not recommended for 1996-05 cars that use the stock ECU. Does not fit Mazdaspeed MX-5s that retain the stock turbo. 1999-05 version shown.

Used this exhaust on my Honda swapped NB. Fit is a little tight with a getrag rear differential. Nice and quiet at a cruise. A little rumbly on light accel and straight up rowdy when wide open. Great product.

Strong candidate
A good option to keep your car quiet enough to be a sleeper, but still fast and loud when you get on it. Very easy to install, and it keeps the cops off your tail for excessive noise or exhaust laws. Especially in states like California.

Very Positive
Sounds intimidating at idle..unique head turning note on accelerating...a bit droney, but soon forgotten, at steady speed. Improved torque and perceived hp. Cool chromed inside on tip. Only negative: tip angles slightly downward.

Update to previous review
This is an update to my previous review. They have modified the exhaust. The pipe I spoke of on the muffler is now reinforced on both sides. So far so good! Definitely like the tone and volume of this exhaust. Quiet during cruising but sounds good when you get on it.

Ypu must make modifications on MSM
Nice exhaust but on the my 2004 MSM I had to modify or eliminate some factory underside bracing and shielding to prevent interference. No cracking or leakage after 2000 miles,

Note from FM: The MSM has unique underbody bracing that's not found on other Miatas. The bracing from the regular Miata can be retrofitted if desired.

Sounds Nice, Flows Nice, but Flawed in Design
There is a defect in the design of this exhaust. The pipe that feeds into the muffler body is only reinforced on top and the weld cracks on the bottom causing leaks. It's already happened to me twice and other people I know. I'd recommend you avoid this exhaust until they fix the issue.

It does sound good though, and I like how well it flows, but I can't rate it any higher with this defect

Note from FM: We are talking to our manufacturer to see how we can improve this. Thanks for the feedback.
