This is what we put on our own cars for track use. It's hard to give a better recommendation than that.

The Kazera KZ-M was built specifically for Spec Miata racing. It has a 30mm offset for a wide stance, a hub that's drilled for the Miata (no centering rings required!) and weighs a reasonable 13.2 lbs. The best part? It's $99 and tough.

The Toyo RA-1 is our favourite track tire. It's a DOT-legal race tire that sticks well and lasts a long time. Breakaway is super-forgiving and they never seem to wear out regardless of the number of heat cycles they are subjected to. This makes it a great choice for people who are doing track days and don't want to spend a huge amount on tires. This is even a good street setup for those who don't put a lot of miles on their car and place traction at the top of their priorities. On our cars, we use the 225/45-15 size for maximum grip.

Please note that the RA-1 is a competition tire and may be in high demand at certain times of the year, particularly spring. This can lead to a shortage of supply.
