No compromises whatsoever
The car is running beautifully. Did everything right straight out of the box and surprisingly there are no discernible compromises whatsoever. The first impression is that the car is now very refined and amazingly docile using light throttle applications. This car now feels more like a European car. It reminds me of the Audi in some ways. Congratulations. That Audi TT turbo no longer seems so enticing as my NC now feels more Audi than the Audi.
Temperatures are all perfectly normal and we noticed that we are always in a higher gear than we would have been without the Supercharger fitted. The car will now pull 6th gear in 60kph traffic at about 1500rpm. This is amazing. We took it up through our local mountains yesterday, 6th gear all the way at the speed limit and of course without effort. Even the slow hairpins were no obstacle for 6th gear. I don't advocate this as a driving style, but it was interesting that the car would do it. The car is very quiet and very smooth. We have noticed one other thing that may appeal to other NC owners, the car now holds a steady constant speed in traffic in contrast to the car in standard tune where it had been very difficult to keep at a constant speed in high gears in traffic. In the city I used to drive everywhere in 4th gear. So far it's the refinement of the package that has been the most surprising feature.
I have noticed a few times that a small amount of throttle input provides instant forward motion. There is no pinging with careful use of the throttle in tall gears and in 1st and 2nd gear the car feels as though it will be eager.
Cold starts are exactly as it was in standard trim, I can't find anything to complain about. This morning I took the car to our local Mazda Dealer, who we purchased the MX5 from, and the spare parts man was slightly amazed and then I upset him because he could not find the Mazda Part Number for the compressor kit. He agrees that you guys have produced a most impressive product. The quality of individual components and the quality of the fitting instructions needs to be commended and so far everyone in my circle of friends have been impressed with the appearance of the engine bay, even before they get a chance to experience the drive. This is no hot rod package, everything just fits perfectly. I keep saying I am amazed, but there seems to be no compromise associated with fitting this kit. This must surely be a very important element for the sales pitch where a prospective purchaser might other wise be feeling a little hesitant.
I absolutely love how it can carry speed through 70 to 80 mph corners and the flowing feeling of dispatching a series of bends with such confidence, it is the same car we had before but somehow it feels more reassuring. I am not concerned with absolute acceleration and top end as the car will spend more time on club runs where it already runs away from all but the hot turbo cars. Fuel consumption is better than I had anticipated but of course is directly proportional to throttle input. Why am I telling you all this. You must be in stitches having me tell you what you already know.
You should warn your customers that their wife or girlfriend could be a sleeping performance demon, be careful if you awaken their passion.
