Flyin' Miata Open House 2003!
Do you have any pictures of the Open House? Send them to us!
We had a lot of fun this year. Friday started with 35 cars at
the Grand Junction Motor Speedway, competing for valuable prizes. Well,
certificates. But people still tried hard. Friday night was the banquet dinner
with a much better band than last year!
On Saturday, after taking over the parade in Palisade, the FM
shop was packed for dyno runs, installations and spectators watching us tune the
1999 Übercharger. We even dynoed one of the two RX8s that showed up. Ken's ECU
masterclass was a highlight for many people. A late
dinner at Sonic, a catered breakfast and people started to drift away. Until
next year...
James Knight took a side trip to Moab and snapped this gorgeous photograph in Castle Valley.
Elvis gets a new engine as Brett checks the clutch install.
While some folks raced at the track, others settled for more virtual competition. Dan Pedroza wows the crowd.
As usual, the FM parking lot was a colorful place. There were around 50 Miatas
in attendance.
While on the dyno, a decorative chrome cap came loose and went through this timing belt. Ouch!
The joys of a snapped timing belt.
Andy Margolin multi-tasks, removing his grille and talking on the phone as his car is dynoed.
The ECU masterclass.
Andy, you're not paying attention.
More of the masterclass.
Meanwhile, serious study back at the shop.
