A goat for a turbo?

please give the counter a moment to catch up

For a long time now, I have wanted to make a difference to people who need help. Teri and I consider ourselves fortunate to have food on the table and a roof over our heads. The Heifer organization struck a chord in me. I believe they have something worthwhile to offer and I believe in their goodness.

In TurboDog's memory, FM will donate a goat for every FMII turbo kit (or other $5,000 minimum order) sold. If you'd like to make a donation directly, we have a team page - that will let Heifer know that these gifts are coming from friends of Flyin' Miata.

Heifer International is a non-profit aid organization that works a bit differently. Instead of giving food to needy areas, they give animals, seeds and training so that people can help themselves. For example, a goat can provide a continuing food source for a family by providing several quarts of milk every day. This can be used for nutrition or to sell in exchange for food or education. The goat also produces fertilizer, which helps crops grow. A goat can survive in extreme environments, eating what most animals would pass by. As a bonus, goats make more goats, which can help lift an entire area out of poverty as the kids are passed along to others in need.

Not all of these families are far off, either. Some of the animals are given to people in the US, in places such as Appalachia. Help us make a difference.
