Why buy a Flyin' Miata supercharger system?
back to FM superchargers

Our turbo and supercharger systems share one characteristic: they're systems. They include proper engine management as well as all the parts you'll need to install them. They're also designed to be easily upgradable, as we know that it's not always possible to start off with the top of the line setup.

Hardware
The hardware in our supercharger systems has been honed over the years. They benefit from careful evolution for more reliability, horsepower and ease of installation. For example, the troublesome idler and tensioner arrangement in the original versions of the systems has been replaced with an automatic tensioner that is extremely reliable and easy to set up. We use a 6-rib belt for belt longevity and to avoid any belt slip.

Of course, the end result depends on manufacture as well as design. All parts are CNC milled or laser cut and TIG welded for the best quality available. It's almost a shame that it isn't all visible when installed.

The blower itself is the same sort used by major manufacturers, and has a lifespan of 100,000 miles without any maintenance. Under cruise and vacuum, the built-in bypass opens up to control blower temperature and improve efficiency. This means the effect on your cruising fuel economy is minimal. We can't promise anything if you spend all your time with the throttle pinned, of course!

Software
Solid hardware is all well and good, but without proper engine management it's not as effective as it could be. Nobody understands Miata engine management as well as Flyin' Miata does. While we are currently only offering our tried-and-true Voodoo box to start off, we will offer a variety of options that range from inexpensive and simple, to complex and powerful.

Be careful - other vendors don't necessarily include any sort of engine management at all in their kits. Read their fine print carefully!

Upgrading
We're best known for our high-end kits - the FM II is the standard of comparison in the Miata world. But we understand that not everyone can jump right in at the top level. That's why we offer our Voodoo kits, to provide an entry into the world of high horsepower Miatas without a full-size price tag. All of our systems work on the same basic hardware and are designed to be easy to upgrade, so you can start off with a Voodoo and work your way up.

Support
Every FM supercharger system comes with the full lifetime support of Flyin' Miata. We're still supporting systems that we sold in the early 1990's!

Flyin' Miata has been dealing with Miatas for as long as there have been Miatas, and we've had forced induction on our cars all that time. We're still driving our own little red Miata that we turbocharged in January of 1990. We've sold and installed almost every other supercharger kit on the market over the years, from the original Sebring supercharger to the defunct Ubercharger. We drive supercharged Miatas every day. Nobody else has this depth of experience to offer, and it shows when you call us for help or advice.
