The Red Rat

Back to the Open Track Challenge car index
Step one: the teardown
Before we could fit the body kit and paint the car, we needed to strip it down. We are also replacing just about everything that can be replaced, so we basically took the car down to a shell.

In reverse chronological order:

...and there's really not much left to take out. That's pretty much how we left it. Now what happened to Bill?
Ahh! There was an octopus in the car and it's got Bill!
A few more things have been removed. Power steering, suspension and a lot of small bits. The Torsen is now in place, however.
Not much drivetrain here. Even the axles are gone.
The poor Rat.
The interior gets lighter.
Bill takes out the airbag hardware. It looks like we dragged the car in here, shedding parts all the way!
More from the interior.
The pile of parts grows.
The interior is getting cleaner.
Ken demonstrates his favorite position for working under the dash. The most entertaining part is watching him get out, and he swears it's comfortable.
Jesse works on the front bumper.
If you squint, it does kind of look like a race car.
Here's what has come out so far.
Into the garage to get stripped down.
The Red Rat before.
