Sometimes, bigger is better.

The Track Dog, Flyin' Miata's race car, uses the E-Production body kit from Mazda Competition. It looks fantastic and gives us room for massive race slicks. But it's intended for racing. It's lightweight (thin!), fits fairly poorly and is quite expensive. You also need to be a racer to buy it. There hasn't been a good solution for the street.

Until now.

AWR, a respected name in Mazda racing, has developed this flare kit. It is intended to bond to the existing body panels. This is the only way to install flares on the rear as the rear fenders cannot be removed. This also keeps the kit legal for use in SM2. Small extensions are included for the bumper at each corner. A bolt-on front fender set may be coming along later although it will still require bonding for the rear and the bumpers.

The bumper extensions are intended for use on stock bumpers, but aftermarket bumpers that are similar to the stock ones will also work. The extensions start from approximately halfway through the side marker lights.

The best part is that this kit is thick enough for daily use. Run big rubber or simply give your car the stance to back up an FM II or Ubercharger powerplant. The price for the complete kit is $999 plus shipping. It is available immediately through Flyin' Miata.

Future plans include a set of fabricated control arms to move the wheels further outward while maintaining stock offset.

The kit is also available to fit the Racing Beat nose.
Another view of the nose.
There's room for a lot of rubber under here.
The supplied bumper extensions can be molded in to the Racing Beat parts.
A view of the front with shinier paint. This car is also equipped with a Racing Beat body kit.
The body kit is shown here in conjunction with a Simpson Design cowl induction hood.
You can see how the front bumper has been extended to meet the wider body.

The only panels modified are the fenders and bumpers.
We are searching for a source for side marker lights that fit.
This angle gives a good idea of the rear bumper extensions.
The same car during the development of the flares.
If you were really tall, this is what the car would look like.
To give an idea of what is modified, here are the flares unpainted. They are being held on by tape in this photo. The rear is not sitting correctly because it is intended to go under the bumper which needs to be removed for installation.
Yes, they're still suitable for racing. This is Louie Rivera's E-Production Miata. Watch for it at the Runoffs!
Louie bonded on the rear flares and simply bolted up the front. The front bumper is obviously not stock...
