Garage showdown!
Here's your chance to show off your garage to others who will
understand. No matter whether it's messy or the ideal setup, we want to hear
about it.
Bill Wilner: It's like a Miata exploded in my life.
I have to un-cram and spread stuff out onto the driveway to work on anything. Only a couple more months now, hopefully. Too late for the FM open house this year. Maybe next time. Yesterday, I finally got my block bored out to 2.033 L and ordered Pauter rods. That's a big step to cleaning up my mess!
The rest of my car is behind me on the driveway (nose, folding work table, bench grinder on stand, extra block and head, more boxes), in my bedroom (hood, header, car stereo, radiators and intercooler) and in storage (convertible top)
Notice the inspirational Track Dog poster in upper right, FM tach clock in top center next to section that was cut out of my Simpson cowl induction hood where we fit a real Viper NACA duct, passenger seat on high shelf along back wall, banker's boxes along right wall are each full of parts (by category) to reassemble car, (2) framed Miata cutaway posters on right wall, test pipe in left front (now on eBay), extra crank at right front (headed for eBay)...
See for yourself.
Bob Retzer: "The picture tells the story....."
See for yourself.
Lloyd: "This way, when the wife is mad at me..."
Well, the garage isn't much, but at
least I finally have one.
In addition to my toolbox and a shelf unit to
hold stuff, I have a small tv and radio mounted on the wall. This way when the
wife is mad at me, I have a place to escape.
Jeff Abrams: "Worst garage? I don't think so! MINE is the worst:"
See for yourself.
Mark Cookson: "Do you go into your
garage and find rat fur stuck to your Miata's roof?"
See for yourself.
Vince Russell: "...and one X-Files clock!"
See for yourself.
Randy Stocker: "...Although it look messy it is actually quite organized and offers great working
space"
As you probably know, Randy is the king of Mazda interchange information on his website at solomiata.com. So it's no surprise that his garage includes things like an AWD MX-6 transmission. See for yourself.
Billy Hodgson: "my garage down on the bayou..."
Rod Letcher
The first two photos are of addition (35' x 12') to the existing
two car standard garage, This where the Miata is worked on (if need be) on
weekends. It also houses the 31 Model A, and my collection of die cast cars
and other automobillia. We also use this to observe passers by (note the directors chairs).
The main garage is pretty much just that, the Miata and wifes car , generally sleep in here.
For major maintainence and repairs I have a benwill lift in my cabinet shop. Note the wifes car is on the rack, getting her wheels
chromed. Don't ask, its the wifes idea.
The floors in all three garages have been treated with "Sanaborn" (sp)
exterior concrete sealer (gloss). It works very well to keep the dust down,
and oil spills wipe up easily. Gas spills however will dissolve it.
John Nates: "I could not resist...everyone has all of these neat
tools...and benches..and stuff....I just want to let you know how my Miata
sleeps at night....."
Ted Harris: "Miata orgy!"
Tom Graham: "Just for fun, here's a nightmare garage..."
Bill Cardell: "I like bikes."
Better pictures to follow, for sure. But this garage is not only usually filled with turbo Miatas, it's also full of Ducatis and race bikes. The yellow car is the FM
Protegé development car.
The shop's as well equipped as you'd expect, even to the point of a bike lift!
John Suchak: "BOO-YAH!"
A machinist's dream. Take the tour!
Dan Pedroza: "can you tell i like things with 4 wheels?"
From bottom to top: '03 Yamaha Raptor 660R, '02 Yamaha Blaster 200, '99
Interkart shifterkart, '96 Yamaha Warrior 350
It's small, but it fits it all!
my garage door, and memory of how i proposed to Dani :)
